      Historic Latta Plantation is a circa 1800 cotton plantation and living history farm, located within Latta Plantation Nature Preserve.  Tours of the Latta home are guided, and tours of the grounds are self-guided.

Upcoming Events 

November 7, 2009 (10am-4pm) Charlotte Gold Rush  Learn about Charlotte's rich gold mining history and pan for gold!  Enjoy live music and local root beer at the miner's cabin, tour the plantation, and visit the farm animals.  Free with regular admission ($6 for adults , $5 for seniors and students, ages 5 and under free).

November 9-10, 2009  CLOSED!

November 14, 2009 (10am-4pm)  Civil War Soldier for a Day  Boys and girls ages 8-12 will be mustered into the Northern and Southern armies for a day!  The day ends with a battle and graduation ceremony.  Pre-registration is required, and the cost is $40 per child. 

November 14, 2009 (10am-2pm) Floorcloth Stenciling Class  Explore the techniques used to cut, arrange, and stencil paint onto prepared canvas to take home and use as a floorcloth.  In class you will learn to cut a two-part stencil and create a diamond patterned floorcloth similar to the one on display in the main hallway of the Latta home.       Pre-registration is required.  The cost is $110 per person.                                            Click here for registration form.

November 27-28, 2009 (10am-4pm)  A Plantation Christmas  Start the holiday season by stepping back in time for a 19th century Christmas celebration.  Tour the plantation and learn about early American Christmas traditions.  Free with regular admission ($6 for adults, $5 for seniors and students, ages 5 and under free).

November 30-December 1, 2009  CLOSED!
